Holidays
A few short hours of homeliness –
Snatched minutes of sheer bliss –
Before returning to the drudge
Of working under constant stress.
How we love each carefree moment
Of release before we trudge,
Back to our obliged employment!.
Yet, it is their very briefness
That give holidays their charm;
Too much time squandered remiss
Could provoke us to some harm,
Or quickly lose prized preciousness.
A short while passed with those we hold most dear
Brings more enjoyment than an idle year.
