Creative Brilliance
(A synthesis of Denominative Devices and Brilliance)
You cannot live forever, no matter what your schemes,
So all your life’s endeavours may fade like labile dreams;
But habits of your living
Etch images in time,
With history’s page receiving
Each graven paradigm.
What you create must sign you – each thing you make or do –
With memories to define you for those who never knew
The pattern of your nature,
The tenor of your heart,
Or that unique self-signature
Which marked your life apart.
Unless you leave some signs to shew you merit your recall,
So far as future minds will know, you had not lived at all.
It matters not how clever or brilliant your brain,
Your genius will never receive its due acclaim
Until you shew – by functions
That transform thoughts to facts –
Some tangible constructions
Your brilliance enacts.
Real cleverness is measured not just by novel thought
But how, through bright endeavours, some notion is then wrought
Into the new creation
Of something realised
That aids the population
When properly devised.
What best describe true brilliance and demonstrate its sense
Are practical embodiments of thought-experiments.
