                               Had I a Voice

Had I a voice whose power could expand

     The boundaries of your imaginings;

          That could express the glories of this grand

     Existence; boast those beauties that inspire

          Our human natures’ finest sentiments;

Describe in each perfect particular

The mysteries that permeate all things:

Had I a voice to huge your heart and cause

     Your soul to sing; to liberate your sense;

          Infuse your mind with light that shews where lie

     In subtle, simple ingenuity,

          True miracles of universal laws:

Then you might understand my poetry’s bright dreams

And learn some secret from their visionary scenes!.
