        Autumnal

I feel Autumnal hints

   Colour the air:

Chamæleonic tints

   Pale-hued and spare.

Bird-clouds traverse the rain-

   Washed, wind-blown skies

As Summer heats decline

   To Winter’s ice.

Through failing mortal powers

   I, too, migrate

Across those unknown hours

   Which are my fate.

I trust I shall arrive –

   My transit done –

In some lushParadise

   Beyond the sun.

Yet, if my hope should be

   Betrayed at last,

All my eternity

   Will be as dust.

But you will never know,

   (Who live distraught

Until your time to go),

   My last resort!.

Although Autumnal tones

   Cool my warm breath

I feel, deep in my bones,

   Life transcends death.
