Would you prefer the eloquence and charm,
The glitter and parade in bright display
Of silken flattery’s embellishments,
The flashy compliments, light dalliance
And gaudy presents offered every day?.
Would you prefer the quiet peacefulness,
The undemonstrative, calm certainties
Of humble honesty’s simple regard
And mild acceptance of whatever hard
Or gentle incident involves your days?.
I only ask because I wish to know
Whether appearance means as much to you
As substance to myself , or otherwise?.
Is that, or this, the spark which lights your eyes?.
