Time and Art [2]

[From A Theory for Art (iix)]

Time is life’s last illusion, and shall be

Until we understand what it must mean.

Art teaches us that all truths must refract,

Crudely distorted, from Time’s mirrored curves.

When we know Time’s smooth secrets – as we shall

When we are ready to sustain such shocks –

Then we will learn the reason why we live,

(Confined in our small boats of bone), adrift

     Upon an ocean of infinities.
