Forest Rides
Spurred by anxieties my frantic thoughts
Gallop unchecked full tilt through forest rides.
Borne boldly down vague-shadowed avenues
Of indeterminance my questing mind
Quick-scans for some intransience amongst
Dense-tangled unimportances that blur
With Nature’s scarce-observed felicities
As in my headlong haste they hurtle past
Until – in sudden focus – I remark,
(Still as a photograph, particular
In coloured detail), something which compels
The instant reining-in of racing brains,
To fix its image steady in my sense
Beneath a concentrated stare which might
Expose, to my caught heart, that felt significance
Which caused its timeless relevance to snare my glance.
